    Question Exede "white" coverage areas

I currently have Hughesnet and was very interested in the new Exede service but when I looked at the coverage map, it shows that I live in a white area (95667 zip code). I was curious if there are any future plans to expand the coverage area or if I'm just out of luck.

    Thanks,

    Nathan

One industry official said the two companies have not excluded the possibility of a contract for two Ka-band satellites, each smaller than ViaSat-1, instead of a single spacecraft.

While a two-satellite order likely would be more expensive for Carlsbad, Calif.-based ViaSat, it would permit the company to spread its capital spending over a longer period. It also would allow ViaSat added flexibility in selecting coverage areas for its Exede consumer broadband service.

I too live in the white zone, but I am less fortunate than you because I am a current WildBlue customer and there is no upgrade path for us. My local dealer said there may be expanded coverage coming soon - and the WB web site says a similar thing... but I have yet to hear if it will help people on the west side of the Sierra Nevada's.

    Good luck,

    -Jeff

Good to hear...have to wait-n-see on how they do it...with which bird(s) they use.
