Thread: Page Fails To Load

  1. Default Page Fails To Load

Why is it that daily I try to get a web site, doesn't matter what site, the heading comes up, but the rest of the page doesn't load, I have to hit reload page icon and it comes up. Regular WB Customer. This is getting old......

    Which browser are you using?

I use Firefox. Have had to reload sites already today. And rebooting anything does not help.

This is almost always a browser problem. Try emptying the cache, restarting Firefox, then empty the cache again but I doubt this will work. Just download and install a new copy of Firefox. Sometimes it goes buggy for no apparent reason.

You could try another browser to see if Firefox is the problem. Opera only takes a couple of minutes to download and install and you might like it better than Firefox. I do. I've used it for 15 years and have it on all my computers and cell phones including my BlackBerry.

Chrome is also a good choice...it ranks just ahead of Opera...Firefox is 3rd choice and IE8/9 is last choice..

    I have all 4 installed and up-to-date...Chrome is the better choice...Opera 2nd..

wm4bama, I have 5 browsers installed because I design and maintain my own website and need to see how my pages display in various browsers. The browsers I use most often are Chrome and Firefox. I would prefer Chrome over Firefox except for one small problem that is common and persistent. I have yet to solve it. Have you experienced the following error message( and if so, have you solved it?):

    No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

    Thanks,
    Grandpa
p.s. I agree IE is dead last!

I have, on rare occasions, received that message...it usually happened because my router's wifi signal was so low that my laptop disconnected from it...after replacing router I have not seen that error message..

I use Chrome almost exclusively except to run controlled tests with the other browsers...all the browsers will get that message from time to time, especially if your internet connection speed has dropped and the server times out...usually, with all browsers, I right-click on the page and select "reload" and the page loads correctly.

I have Chrome v20.0.1132.47 m. (the .47 was just released)

Thank you, wm4bama! I just updated Chrome to the newest version. Maybe that will help. Otherwise, I am hardwired into a new Linksys E2500 Wireless-N, and I never get that error message with Firefox. Oh well, we will see!
    Thanks again,
    Grandpa
