I had some issues with lost connections on UPS backups.
Contrary to your results with UPS backups, my experience with them is just the opposite.

My entire network hardware are all connected to a UPS back-up...never a problem, and to the contrary, my UPS has prevented me from losing modem lock many, many times....

Short power interruptions and voltage spike occur during the many thunderstorms we have in the Southeast...without my UPS I would be waiting for my modem to reconnect to the satellite when these disruptions occur..

A UPS will also save you from losing your current work activity on your computer...many times I have been in the middle of creating a document, video or slideshow when power goes out...if the power is not back in about 60 seconds I have time to save my work and shut down my computer(s) normally.

I recommend everyone use a UPS...it's also the better choice over surge suppression hardware.

No problems with UPS back-ups here either. Been using them for years and have several customers who have used them for years with no problems, just benefits.

Have to agree with the others about the UPS back-ups. Been using one for years and no problems.

Ditto. I've had my computer system on an UPS for many years. We now have five UPS units around the house -- on my computer system, my wife’s computer system, on two Dish receivers with large external hard drivers and on our (expensive) large screen TV. I’ve found a UPS will solve some mysterious problems and often helps with some plug-in AC adapters that generate noise themselves especially those on telephones.

Our line is always noisy with small spikes and glitches and momentary outages that are just enough to make every clock in the house -- oven, microwave, nightstand, etc. -- lose its memory. These tiny surges are often enough to crash Windows. Voltage varies and is usually higher than it should be.

Our installer didn’t like them either and insisted on plugging the modem directly into an outlet. As soon as he left I plugged it into a UPS and it continued to work just fine.

The idea that a UPS does not play well with WB modem comes from the fact that some UPS units have coax "filters" for the data line. These filters do not meet the WB frequency requirements and should not be used.

I have been using a modified APC UPS with two 210AH marine type storage batteries and can run my system for several hours.

I agree with using APC UPS units...I've been using APC's for years...on my second one now after old one's battery would not hold a charge very long...cheaper to buy a new one than to replace the battery...
