    Default Router Question

I am having trouble maintaining a signal with a router in place. I usually drop the signal up to 20 times per day and have to restart the modem/router to get the signal again. The router is a WNR 2000 Netgear. When the modem quits, the two upper lights are lit but the bottom two are off. When I restart, all four will light with the bottom two blinking at various intervals but it usually quits within 1/2 hour. I am not sure if this is a modem or a router issue. I am trying without the modem connected to see if the signal drops but so far it seems OK.

I have a Apple IMAC hard wired and a Macbook Pro wireless.

A quick elimination test would be to connect your Imac directly to the modem, bypassing the router...run it like that until you decide if the router is the problem.

Are you on Exede, or the legacy system? I'm using a MacBook Pro on the legacy satellite (Select Pack) with a D-Link router, and I have no issues. I understand that there have been problems with routers and the Exede system.

    Default Router Problem

I am excede. Yesterday, I was hooked up with the router in line and it worked OK. This morning, it shut off again so I am without the router once more.

There was a thread here a couple of months ago about router problems with Exede. I don't know if it ever got solved, but if you search the forum you might find an answer. Or, someone who is on Exede and knows more than I do may jump in to help. Either way, good luck.

It doesn't matter if the router is there or not. The modem still disconnects at least 5 times a day.

That's an excessive amount of modem disconnects..is it possible the fires/smoke is causing any problems with your signal?

If you're not in an area effected by those fires/smoke then I would think you have a faulty modem, Tria, coax or other installation problem...possibly a poorly aligned dish??

This SAME problem happens to me throughout EACH day. I have no "other" router...just EXEDE's Satellite Modem connected directly to mycomputer.

I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that the "Problem" is with WildBlue/EXEDE/ViaCom SYSTEMS themselves !!!

All the "helpful talk" from WildBlue is NONSENSE ! THEIR "system" is seriously FLAWED !

No problems with UPS back-ups here either. Been using them for years and have several customers who have used them for years with no problems, just benefits.

Have to agree with the others about the UPS back-ups. Been using one for years and no problems.
