Thanks - I'm Exede 12, but via NRTC. (and mid-month in my billing cycle) No meter updades since Thursday (1 week now). Hope they fix this soon because this month would be good for predicting my "worst case" internet usage.

There's still something screwy going on here. I just checked my usage against my router again. The WB meter says I've used 15510 MB (101% of my allowance), where my router says I've used 5699 MB.

This is the only scenario that I have figured out that may be causing the difference:

My router resets it's counter on the first of the month. It's possible that the WB meter is resetting on the monthly date of my activation which would be the 15th. But I have yet to see this stated anywhere on the meter page.

In reading through information about the service prior to ordering, it was my original understanding that this would be the case. However, since my billing runs from 1st to 1st, why would it make any sense at all to reset usage on the 15th?

My meter shows my reset day, and it is my install date,,,,,,,,,,,,PS my meter is wrong it is showing part of prior periods useage, I monitor my router also and it changes monthly also and I will have to break it out to match usage............

gman, I just looked at my router logs for the last several months and did exactly as you said. I re-calculated them myself based on a 15th-14th period, and found that even doing that the numbers still don't seem to be quite the same as those provided by WB.

My router shows 14733MB from May 15th through current, yet their meter is showing almost an extra 800MB. In order for me to get another 800MB in usage from the numbers I'm seeing in my router, I have to go back an include May 13 & 14th as well (which actually adds 856MB compared to their 777MB, so the number still don't work out).

It just doesn't add up. And before I get dinged with reduced speeds or overage charges, someone is going to have to provide some really strong evidence to the contrary.

I knew the limits when I signed on and will accept whatever happens,,,,,,,,,as long as the data is monitored correctly. I hope they come up with a plan to purchase extra if needed as sometimes you might want to use that option. Of course after you pay a time or two u might learn to live with less..... I beleive they will come up with this option, as it will give more revenue and stop peeps from screaming when they get zapped.

Yes they will for sure have a pay for more data option, the rumor is like from 5.99 - 7.99 a GB. But Why? They need to just raised the quota's. You need to understand most websites, google, facebook, etc all that do not charge you use excessive data, for showing you worthless ads. Just like I have Dish and pay for service but yet have to sit through commercials?!?!

As for accurate data, well since they have a lawsuit pending stating Viasat did not design the satellites and stole the technology. They are not working with the builder of the satellite and are attempting to do this on their own with low grade techs. They are trying to get the most revenue as possible out of you. So they want to be sure they nickel and dime you to death.

I just hope that Hughesnet gets the new satellite up and it will be more stable. So I will dump Viasat is that happens or 4G is available.

As of May 1, 2012, the usage meter is accurately reporting your monthly bandwidth usage. ViaSat will begin enforcing the Data Allowance Policy in July. Please refer to this usage meter frequently in order to be sure you are complying with your monthly bandwidth allowance.
Well you're both wrong. I got an email this month (June) that I'm using too much. My options are either stop using my Internet connection or upgrade my account. I'm about to exceed my Ecede usage for my first 30 days on the counter.

I'm not a happy customer at all. When I switched from my former Wild Blue connection the salesman stated that he could save me money by changing over to Exede. Well he was wrong! The basic package is just about half of what I need and he should have known that.

What makes this even worse is that I've had a lot of problems and been unable to access the Internet several times since I switched. Fortunately the guy who came out on the service call did get me back online even though he had no idea what the problem was.

Since then I've still lost service quite a few times. One morning my modem kept rebooting. This happened for more tham an hour. I'd have a connection and then suddenly the connection was cut off and the modem looked like it was stuck trying to find the satelite. I tried rebooting the modem, but it only stayed connected for a few minutes at a time. Then the modem rebooted itself and has been fine for several days.

If my service was dependable perhaps I'd be happier for the need to pay more.

As soon as my contract is up I'm looking into the new Version 4G service. I should have considered it before I upgraded to Exede. It may be faster and cheaper.

I agree with what seems to be the overall consensus. I knew what I was getting when I signed up so if I get tossed in the slammer because of something I did on my end, that's on me. It happens just like life happens. My only concern is that the system, being so new, may have a bug or two that needs to be worked out; therefore, the need to make some adjustments may come about from time to time. I love the service. Now, it's the growing pains that will be a little bit of a stretch to get past. I love the new speed and the new service so far. It'll be interesting to see how everything else unfolds.
Excede customer; clueless about which beam, but really don't care as long as it works. Still a HughesNet defectee.

I have read all of these posts and do not see where one of the WB admin has chimed in. I would like to know what WB/Viasat's official response is to the accuracy of the usage meter.

I have read elsewhere on the web (I believe on the Exede FB Page) that Viasat says the meter is working now and they are sending out notices at 70 and 100%.
