    Shane,

Please when you post stick to the facts. A deal is closed when it is finalized. There's very little to misunderstand about that. We sincerely have a difference of opinion on what is called a fact. Nobody is sniping at you, I'm just asking that you be factual and don't make things up if you don't know the facts. That's all.

I will now look for the 'Ignore' feature and can only hope that others do the same.

    Good Bye.

The "deal" may be done between the two companies themselves but they still have to wait for FTC and FCC approval for the "deal" to be finalized. The can operate as if the deal is done but, if for any reason, the FTC or the FCC find a reason not to let the "deal" go through then it is all to nothing. I reference the "buy-out" of DirecTV by Echostar corp a few years ago that had an agreement reached by the 2 companies yet was denied by the FTC on the grounds that it created on unfair monoply in the satellite television field.

OK everyone.....EchoStar's acquisition of the other guys is really far off topic from the cost of an extra GB of bandwidth usage. There's no more need to discuss that here. Please keep the discussions in the forum ON-TOPIC. This is a place for helpful, constructive advice, and not a place to bicker with one another. We and the other users appreciate it...thank you.

That and the fact that we all know that Wildblue is a much better product than the "other guys"!

Your installer lied. There is NO free bandwidth om WB. And usage is more than just the files you actually save to your computer. it is every webpage, every email, every photo, every YouTube, Flickr, MySpace or any other video you watch, any software updates you do, including OS auto updates and AV updates (Which Norton does a lot) Norton connects every 1-2 minutes to check for updates, each time that use a bit of bandwidth as it has to receive either the updates or the message there is no update needed- it downloaded that information.

In short if it is an update request, actual update, a file you save or, anything you can see on your screen that is not stored in your computer (you see it online) it takes bandwidth to download that information.

Please know that the "installers" are not Wildblue.

Please do not blame Wildblue for the actions of a Dealer or an Installer who may have not been totally forthcoming with all of the correct information just so they could get the sale. It is no different than blaming Ford when a salesman lies to you to sell you that new Ford Explorer with undercoating.

I say Wildblue sucks based on: speed, reliability, bandwidth issue, customer service, pricing.

On the odd occasion when I test my speed, it is near its upper limit, occasionally above. My qualitative perception is that it is just fine for my purposes.

Wildblue is - FOR ME - perfectly reliable. Weather is an act of nature and Wildblue is in the process of upgrading its infrastructure.

The bandwidth is just what I contracted and not an issue. It meets my expectations. When the infrastructure upgrade is complete, the increased capacity and capability will be nice.

Customer service is an often reported issue, though I have not experienced it. You must consider the opposite side of the coin, why should WB pay first line customer service reps to deal with the quality of customer most stereotypically venting here?
