Thread: Unhappy again/still

    Default Unhappy again/still

Still unhappy with the connection speed. Paying for up to 512k but only getting 110k download is not much better than dialup, which is a lot cheaper. Doubt I will keep this service unless I can get it fixed. What can I get guarenteed for speeds if I upgrade?

Speeds have sucked for everyone the last few weeks due to the holidays. Things should get better soon.

The only guarantee you can expect if you upgrade is peak hours being much more bearable.

Well regardless of what the speeds would be with an upgrade, I'd like to try and find the cause of the apparently slow speeds for the package you're on now. Please PM me with your account information and I'd be more than happy to take a look at it for you.

  4. Default Suck dont it

don't feel bad hey it could be worse you could actually get what you pay for. Wait thats how it should be. too many customers and i am pretty sure they are not investing any money in their satellites so they are probably overloaded just like a shared hosting server. that why if you go to their site most zip codes say service is not currently available for your area.

Gater, from your upload results during peak hours your setup looks pretty good. I don't think you have a problem on your side of the satellite. I'm on beam 43 and your data looks like mine during peak hours for the Value Pak.

Read through this thread and post your beam number and other info requested in this thread.

bama, your right there most likely isn't anything wrong based upon the upload speed except congestion. But as I said in the other thread people expect reasonable results regardless of the hour or the beam. When your getting less than 50% of your download speed that is not reasonable. If a man works all day to pay his bills and comes home and can't use it, what good is it? Not everyone is retired and can pick and choose when to use the service.

Of course you're right, and all we're trying to do is show the complaining customers that nothing is wrong on their side of the satellite, and educate them enough to quit worrying over their download speeds during peak hours, and direct that frustration toward WB Corporate powers that can do something about it.

I see some beams, like mine, get slowed until only 30% of the "up-to" download speeds are achieved..

The WB mods here said they considered 80% of the "up-to" speeds to be acceptable...I think we have proven over, and over, that no one gets near the 80% speed during the peak hours...so in their own words, WB considers this "unacceptable", except they can't do anything about it in this forum.

For a WB mod to tell a customer that complains about slow speeds in the evenings, when their upload tests show everything is OK on their side of the satellite, to PM them their account info and they will have a senior tech check it, is foolish, and wastes both CS and senior tech's time...all to "placate" a customer with false hopes.

Unless, and until, WB makes a Corporate decision to fix this problem we will continue to endure very slow speeds in the peak hours of use.

I am so fortunate that I can do all my internet activity (as well as my wife) during the day..I only see slow speeds when I run tests during peak hours, just to add data to our long data base of poor performance during evening hours..
